Fellfisch

In the heart of Neukölln there is a bright and charming café, which is owned by the goldsmith Eva Fischer. She has been baking cakes for cafés since she was a teenager and she did not know what line of work she would choose as grown up; pastry cook or goldsmith. Now she is trying to combine these two professions. She bakes during the week and spends time in her workshop during the weekend. The workshop itself is behind a wall in the café. Her jewellery are made of silver or gold and mostly custom-made.

On Fellfischer they are careful with the details. Everything from the cozy lighting and eclectic furniture, to which kind of ham or cheese that is being served on the breakfast plates. Because here you get good quality produce on the breakfast plates. Like Manche cheese, real Gorgonzola and Italian salami.

Anna Blume

Out of all the cafés in Berlin, this is my favorite. And this opinion I share with many others. There is always a line of people waiting for a table. But do not worry. The line moves fairly quickly and it is worth waiting. Anna Blume is situated in Prenzlauer Berg, but this café is even worth a detour. The furnishing is Art Deco Style, the sofas are wine-colored and the round tables, made of marble. Even the tea cups are good taste (I want to buy one and bring home with me), the service is fast and professional and the breakfast plates addictive.

This time I ordered Anemone, and one plate is more than enough for two people. If you like to go for something spectacular, choose the three tiered breakfast plate. It will make heads turn when it arrives on your table, with its beautifully presented fruits, cheeses and scrambled eggs. The breakfast menu is several pages long and you can get many different varieties of coffee, tea, hot chocolate and freshly squeezed juices.

During the week it is possible to reserve a table, but not during the weekend. Year round there is a large section with outdoor tables under an awning.

Bastard

This café, which is close to Görlitzer Park in Kreutzberg, is worth a detour. Bastard has been here since 2011 is named after the restaurant in the movie Eat the Rich. They have several outstanding breakfast plates, which you may get in a smaller or larger version. But even the smaller one is enough for two people.

During the weekends most of the tables will be taken, so it could be a smart idea to reserve a table. There are more tables outside on the sidewalk, where you can bask in the sun on a sunny day.

Ungeheurer

This café I was recommended by a friend who lives in Berlin and this is exactly the kind of café that I love. Eclectic furnishing (even the restrooms are cozy), lots of people at every table and very generous breakfast plates. Why is it that no one has decided to serve these in Sweden yet? Why?! They are irresistible and I get happy just by looking at them. Before I even took the first bite.

There is a larger room facing the street and another room in the back, where you can sit on a big sofa situated on a small stage. When the sun is shining, they put chairs and tables on the sidewalk. Ungeheurer means monster in German and they recently had a five-year celebration. And I hope they will be around for a long time.
